The history of snus

Just how Swedish snus came about is somewhat unclear. But at the beginning of the 1800s, Swedes began to grind tobacco and mix it with water, salt and flavourings such as wine or spices. The resulting product was not chewed or sniffed, but rather shaped into a small "pinch" and placed behind the upper lip.

Swedish snus is made from selected tobaccos, water, salt and flavourings, following recipes dating back to the 19th century. Swedish snus is pasteurized in a proprietary heat treatment process that meets the Swedish food standards.

There are two formats for Swedish snus: loose and portion packed. Both are available in different flavour varieties. The portion snus is more comfortable to use and the loose snus is for the experienced user.

Choose from 2 different sizes

Portion packed snus is being produced in 3 different sizes: maxi, large and mini. We offer the large and mini varieties. Most customers order the large size (1 gr/pouch), although the mini size (0.5 gr/pouch) is very popular with the ladies.

Original Portion
Original Portion is dark in colour and moist, with a full-bodied flavour. It is pre-shaped into convenient portions in different sizes for easy handling.

White Portion
The new portion format "White Portion" was introduced in 2003. The pre-shaped portion packets are manufactured with a different technique than Portion Original, requiring no after-moisturising. The portion packets therefore have a white surface, a slightly milder aroma and a longer lasting taste.

 

Keep it cool

Swedish snus is a delicate and fresh product. To enjoy the rich flavours the most it is recommended to store the cans in a cool place like a refrigerator. It is best to store it below 8 degrees Celsius.

Snus is placed under the upper lip
No chewing, sucking or spitting is required, just leave it and enjoy the tobacco flavour. Leave it as long as you need or want to. Normal use is 15-60 minutes. Snus is the smokeless tobacco alternative when you are not permitted or choose not to smoke. It is healthier and more convenient than smoking! Did you know that you can store the used pouches under the lid of the can, so you don't have to spit it out?
